2nd Annual AFDA Thanksgiving

The time for turkey quickly arrived, and all AFDA members dined at the newlywed home of Angie and Chris. They transformed their living room and home into an AFDA paradise. Nineteen of us gathered and began with cider and appetizers, as we caught up on all things going on in our lives. The feast was something kings would have coveted. We even had a Turdunken, thought to be the ultimate gluttonous dish. Each member brought something spectacular, and over five hours we dined, drank and celebrated. It was the perfect night to begin the fall season with great friends. Our restaurant dishes were Creamy Polenta from Sagra, and Sweet Potato Tacos from Taco Deli. Delish. May you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving as well!

Somino's

This newly opened restaurant on S. 1st was perfect for our small group of diners. All food served at Somino's is from local farms, and is vegetarian friendly. Another plus, BYOB! Though the air conditioner seemed to be unused, the food and selection were great. Be sure to stop by this little bungalow!

Nutty Brown Cafe

Who wouldn't want to kick off summer with a little Texas Country music, and great food? We spent the night under the stars at Nutty Brown listening to Bruce Robison, and chowing down on country cooking. With only a $10 cover, diners enjoyed the laid back nature of the cafe. Though it's a bit outside the city, the scenery and style are well worth the trip. Be sure to check the music calendar regularly, and make your way to this little gem in the Hill Country.

AFDA Thanksgiving

It was a happy AFDA Thankgiving at Kristen & Carter's home. The living room was set for one of our largest feasts. Everyone brought a favorite dish, and our the featured restaurant was Luby's macaroni and cheese provided by our very own, Lydia. The night was a success as food comas ensued. Next year can't come soon enough.

AFDA's One Year Anniversary Dinner

The celebration was huge for AFDA's first anniversary dinner. Friends and family gathered at one of Austin's oldest and greatest on the Drag. We dined on burgers, shakes, rings and fries and remebered a year of great food, and wonderful friends. Dirty's was the perfect place to toast to many AFDA years to come.

Blue Star Cafeteria

June brought comfort food to a new level at Blue Star. The dinner selection ranged from meatloaf to fried quail. Members wined and dined in the simple satisfactions of the restaurant. Members toasted to moments had, and moments to come for the 10th AFDA Dinner.

Mirabelle

"AFDA Year" New Year's Eve Dinner

Members and friends gathered for the final dinner of 2007. Twenty-two dined on a customized AFDA menu of tastes from the newly re-vamped restaurant at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel. The panoramic veiw of the city set the tone for the night's festivites.
